Day Two—The Lord WORKS!

“Beloved, Bear your share of hardship for the gospel with the strength that comes from God.” ~2 Timothy 1:8B

This portion of today’s Second Reading seems so fitting 
for our Mission. 
We’re working and it IS hard, 
but the Lord has given us the strength to do the work.

This is evident with today’s results. 
Most all of our missionaries paused to spend time with and adore our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament today, and the level of progress we made is so incredible!

Here are just a few pictures of the work that was done…

Inside Divine Mercy Church. 
We began our day with Holy Mass, 
on this Second Sunday of Lent. 


Unloading the last 2/3rds of the siding we didn’t get to yesterday.

This gorgeous little chapel has perpetual Adoration. 
Whole families of parishioners will show up to go in together for their holy hour!
While we’re here, they focus a lot of prayer on us.
To spend even 20 minutes in here today was such a blessing for each of us who were able.

Organizing the donated clothes, shoes, sporting goods, bedding, toiletries and religious books/items 
that we all brought down, for dispersement. 

We finished all of the priming and 1/3 of the painting (waiting for more paint coming tomorrow), so a few of us took a stroll by the water, and around the neighborhood. Pictures do not do justice to the colors of these flowers. 

God is such a wonderful artist!

The add-on bathroom for the clinic hit a little hitch in that the septic tank was taller than expected. No problem for this crew!
The height was adjusted and flooring is complete on both this addition AND the second structure being built on this site!

It’s hard to believe it’s only Day Two, with so much having been accomplished already. 
And not even a full day of work at that! 

God is good and works in mysterious ways. 
We witnessed this today. 
This particular mission trip has grown so much over the last few years and we have an amazing team this year, 
in size and character. 

As the next verse of that Second Timothy passage reads, 
“He saved us and called us to a holy life, not according to our works but according to his own design and the grace bestowed on us in Christ Jesus before time began,” we recognize that we are all here because God has called us to be holy. 
He has called us to share the Gospel message of His love with those who have not yet encountered Him. 
These works we are doing are not our own, but the will and power of God.

that we might be an image of God to all we encounter here.

Day One-Travel & Beginning

Flying in over the coastline-beautiful, sunny day. A bit of lunch and straight to work,  surveying the lumber and materials. As per usual, we are always sure to safely secure the lumber for the drive out to the worksites…  Watch those speed bumps!  Painting crew getting right to work priming the siding for all of our building projects.  With so many hands this year, we’re making quick work of this. Not to mention, plenty of sturdy(ish) sawhorses.  No crouching on the ground this time!  Shade+Hydration=Success Our building crew converged on a single site to kick things off.. With last week’s mission group getting our concrete footings set, they were able to get eveything ready to lay the flooring tomorrow! Day Three—Promise of Something New

Our third day was also our first full day of work.  This one was a challenge… Many of our crew were hit with a stomach bug this morning.  So many rallied and powered through, though, and it was inspiring to witness their strength and determination. Thankfully, most were feeling pretty well recovered  by quitting time.  All that being said, we got so much accomplished! By the grace of God  (and certainly not possible without Him), We have completed base floors for all three structures, five standing walls and all of our painting is done  (outside of a single door).  FULL rainbow beaming over our work sites this morning.  A beautiful reminder of God’s promise  to never desert His people.  Even with our trials this morning, we recognize that it is by trusting in Him that we have been able to do any of this.
